The secret ingredient for spark and fulfilment

Confident red pattern

Want to know the secret ingredient for spark and fulfilment in life?

It’s VISION. "Ugh. Vision?!" I hear you say.... The concept alone can seem too big, far away and blurry. I get it.

As a life coach I get to work with clients to articulate their vision for their life, to pull it from deep within and bring it into their conscious mind. As someone who works with people doing this regularly - I can assure you it’s not as hard as you think it is. But I agree… it can be tricky to do on your own.

Sooo…. What is vision anyway?

Vision isn’t something you can tick off a list as ‘done’ (that’s a goal, goals are what move you towards your vision – hence starting with vision is critical but still, so few people take the time to do it – not you though, look at you taking an interest!). Vision is a picture in your mind of how you want your life to look and feel in the future. It can be vague or highly detailed, it really dos depend on the individual.

To get started, I want you to imagine a time that’s jarringly different from now (to take your mind to somewhere new).

For me, it helps to imagine my kids have grown up or have moved out of home (which takes me about 20 years or so into a future… totally blowing my mind!!).

Here’s one major rule for you:

Don’t get caught up on what you think your vision for your life ‘should’ look like or what it ‘should’ include. Give yourself the freedom to explore whatever pops into your mind without any judgement whatsoever.

Another tip:

Focus less on what you’ve done and focus more on imagining how you would feel in the future.

prompts to begin to clarify your vision:

  1. What’s significant about the time in the future you’ve imagined? (e.g. kids have moved out, dream career, retired)

  2. What do you want your most important relationships to feel like at this stage of life? (e.g. Close, connected, frequent interaction)

  3. How do you want to feel within yourself? (e.g. confident, relaxed, adventurous etc.)

  4. What about this vision shows you that your life is fulfilling and meaningful? What are you doing and saying that indicates this?

  5. How are you giving back to others? How does that make both you and them feel?

If you took the time to answer these questions then I’m incredible proud of you. Few are prepared to put in the work to get the results.

I want you to feel confident in life, fulfilled and balanced. I know you want that too! Vision is a key starting point for all of these brilliant things. It’s vision that steers your day to day decisions and behaviours. It's like the rudder for the ship.

3 steps to make your vision a reality:

  1. Share it (as appropriate) with any critical people who need to come along on that journey with you (I’m thinking life partners, business partners etc.), because it’s likely they’re active teammates in this so seeking their input is important

  2. Reverse engineer your vision. Work backwards, what do you need to be doing in 10 years time, 5 years time and 12 months time to be on the right trajectory to be living your vision as you imagine it? These are the goals that take you there.

  3. Start actioning your goals (big or teeny tine) and watch your life change!

When you complete these exercises beginning to unpack your vision, please let me know how you go! Was it challenging? Easier than you expected? Life altering? I want to hear about it! Email me!

Creating an energising and fulfilling life is in your hands.
